Western womanhood has lost all credibility

Western womanhood has lost all credibility.   

We have the likes of Daniella Weiss gleefully defending stealing of Palestinian lands. We have the likes of Tzipi Hotovely , Israeli Ambassador to the UK, who says every Palestinian child's murder is a lie spun by Hamas. Wives of IDF soldiers hailing their dead genocidal husbands and vow to rid the Gaza strip of evil. We have female IDF soldiers mocking the suffering of Palestinians. We have the likes of Ursula von der Leyen who can't shout loud enough her racist , colonial views and lend all the moral and diplomatic (and more) support to Israel.   

While running for President, Kamala Harris, vowed to give Israel all the help they would ever need.   In the same elections , American womanhood could only see their rights to abortion but not for Palestinian women to deliver their babies safely while hospitals were getting bombed. 

And, while this Genocide takes place, my Western female colleagues from the Aid/Development sector offer no condemnation of this Genocide which their governments are directly supporting. They were very loud for Ukraine, though, and Je Suis Charlie. Instead they are vehemently protesting the end of USAID and other aid /development funding. 

Western womanhood is a spectre. Western women's advances in education, employment, the arts is a lie. It is built on Empire, it is the Empire. Its claims of feminist leaps and, freedoms and, reimagining womanhood free of the patriarchy are merely a racial fantasy in a remote tower. 

Western womanhood projects superiority to other women for being non Western. 

Western womanhood continues to benefit from the Genocide and erasure of people in the Global south. 

We have seen the spectre of Western womanhood either calling for the Genocide or demanding aid funding be available so it can save other women in the Global South. These are the roles it wants to occupy (pun intended): murder/steal or patronise. 

Western womanhood is an imperial project and Western feminism as a model is a poison. 

It is worth pointing out there are a few Western women who are breaking free and, calling for an end to the Genocide and imperialism: Greta Thunberg, Zarah Sultana, Susan Sarandon, Francesca Albanese and, all students and union workers and protest groups.  

Meanwhile , the rest of us need to think hard about what womanhood is and what it should stand for. We have to figure out how to be free from patriarchal violence and abuse and, lead free lives but be rooted in what is important.
