I have openly identified as a feminist , left feminist to be precise, for some time. I no longer find it useful to analyse the world and its problems. Feminism has to mean something more than just useless slogans which I feel it has become. Even leftist feminists became nationalists braying for war as was the case last year when Pakistan and India enjoyed a four-day war. Historically, feminism really started as working class women's movements organised by Communists. And, even until today, those who need feminism are poor working women in a country like Pakistan who don't know their rights, think Islam allows up to 7 wives, are kept so ignorant, and, are crushed and invisible. The majority of the country is simply ok morally to keep everyone poor, substandard and, backward. Just look at our servant system. And, smart leftist educated women are openly proud that they don't do housework, don't know how to cook or have any life skills. Last year, witnessing feminists' nationalism and jingoism was a shock to my system. This year, feminists are saying they are happy the big bad Iranian mullah is dead but they are not happy with imperialism , showing such a shameful political thought process. Then there are the mainstream liberal feminists who project a sick religiosity, nationalism, adherence to beauty industry and copy cat of mainstream ideas. Who is feminism for?
